Welcome to Link Building Instructions!
Our goal is to provide link building tips, advice, and services, so that you get to where you want to be in Googles Search Results.
What are links and why are they important?
Links count as votes across the internet. They are important in the same way votes are important in elections. If you want to win an election (get to the top of Google Natural Search Results), you will need more votes (More Links) then your competition.
Is the amount of links (votes) the only factor in getting good search results?
Unfortunately it is not that simple. Links that come from authoritative sites like MSNBC, CNN, and other highly trafficed sites have more "link juice". Link Juice is a term that describes how much benefit a link actually provides. For example, if you run a blog about Classic Cars, a link from classiccars.com will have more link juice then a link from an unrelated theme site such as a link from a mortgage company website. Alternatively if CNN post a story about your blog on their website, that link will have a ton more link juice than classiccars.com because the CNN website is greatly more successful "popular" then classiccars.com.
I already post links on Twitter and Facebook and other social bookmarking sites, isn't that enough?
No, search engines are well aware the people post their links all over these sites, so not much link juice is given to links on those sites. But, if 1,000 people start posting your links as well on these sites, then the quantity of links will benefit you.
So how do I get to the top of search results if my competitors are much bigger than I am and they have big money to throw on advertising campaigns?
Well, there are multiple ways that you can attack a problem such as this. For instant results you should think about starting a Google Adwords Campaign or something similar. We always recommend Google, because the simple fact is that Google produces over 70% of all search result traffic on average to any site. Number two, you definitely need to start a linking campaign, whether you pay a company like ours to handle the monthly duties for you, or you spend the hours/days/years making relationships in the webmaster world so that one day you can post your links on your friends sites with their permission. Obviously some of us thought about this long ago, and we formed SEO Companies with holdings of 100's of websites, where we allow our clients links to exist in a natural white hat method.
What are the benefits of Link Building?
There are many, but the most important link building benefits are: increased web traffic, increased revenues for your business, and of course the building of your reputation on the internet.
What do you mean by internet reputation?
If you have a couple hundred links across the Internet linking the words (keywords) "classic car auction" to your URL, Google and other search engines will notice and if your webpage content for that URL closely matches the same keywords, Google and other search engines will increase your traffic by allowing your search results to move towards the top for anyone searching for those keywords, because the search engines think that several hundred people really think that your website is related to those keywords and Google wants to give acurate seach results to its end users searching for that term.
Is Google PageRank still important?
Yes and no, depending on who you ask. Google officially de-emphasized the importance of PageRank but advertisers for instance will approach the webmasters with high ranking websites over those that are not highly ranked. So depending on your objective. Over time, if you do practice the must haves to stay alive and to be successful on the internet, such as: link building, and adding quality content to your site. Google will continually increase your reputation and alter/improve your PageRank so advertisers will start calling you to pay for a link on your site.
